ArtMole Would Like To Welcome & Introduce David Kibuuka
(Last Modified : 04/07/2009)

david-studentsArtMole Inc, specializing in sale of limited edition art reproduction via the ArtMole portal, is pleased to announce that David Kibuuka is collaborating with us as the Art technical specialist and advisor for African-Canadian and Modern Batik art. David was born in Uganda (Africa) and brings over 20 years of art experience that spans Africa, Europe and North America. His art has been influenced by masters of African traditional and contemporary Western art. He is one of the eminent founders of “Modern Batik Art Painting” in East Africa. He was one of the pioneers that introduced “Fragmentation” technique to traditional Batik Art. This adaptation to painting increased the background depth, broadness and provided a richer palette of colors to the batik painting, thus, allowing this novel fine art medium to yield control, detail and richness comparable to acrylic and water-color paintings.

kibuukaIn the late 1970s David moved to Nairobi (Kenya Arts School) to escape government oppression and violation of human rights in Uganda. In Nairobi, he continued to perfect his technique. David’s work is imbued with his innate love of Africa and the opportunities that Africa kibuukahas to offer. The splendour and intensity of his love for African traditions and cultures along with his hopeful vision of ‘what could be’ / ‘what will be’ has widened the scope of his art. To depict the wide spectrum of possibilities that he imagines, he uses a diverse blend of mediums that includes mixed media, acrylics, oils, pen and ink, water colour and pencil drawing.

David’s work has been used by UNICEF to design greeting cards for international publication and distribution. This collection of four master pieces captures the spirit of life in everyday Africa. In 2005, collaboration between World Vision Canada, Artistic Canada and David was formed to produce posters using David’s images for the purpose of raising money to benefit “Hope initiative” which provides prevention, care and advocacy programs for children and those affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa and in 2007 David founded www.Lumu.org to directly fundraise for orphan children in Uganda (East Africa).

We at ArtMole look forward to the inspiring works of art and educational articles that David will publish through the ArtMole portal. David we welcome you to our group of prestigious artists and influencers to the design and concept of the ArtMole portal.

Sincerely yours ArtMole
