Born and educated in Uganda. After attending Makerere University in 1962, Katongole joined the Uganda Television art department under his mentor Henry Lumu in 1965. He continued painting and had his first solo exhibit in 1969. He has been a full time artist for the last 20 years.
Over these years he has developed a uniquely individualistic style with original themes, the present exhibition bears more ample proof to this fact.
